Reaching 40 is indeed a milestone for many reasons. But it also marks a change in the way you need to prioritise health and well-being.
My name is Mark Robins, and after reaching my fourth decade, I realised I needed to take charge of my health by focusing on regular exercise, a balanced diet and addressing potential health concerns. But where should I start?
I joined a local gym, having no clue what to do or what to eat, and tried using the internet to find a program that would give me what I was looking for. After many false starts and little result, I finally landed upon an online trainer who showed me how simple and straight forward the whole process can be.
Now into my 50's and qualified as a personal trainer, I'm dedicated to helping other men delay the aging process while maintaining and building a stronger, healthier body.
- Muscle and Bone Loss: People over 40 experience a gradual decline in muscle mass (sarcopenia) and bone density (osteopenia), increasing the risk of fractures and decreased mobility.
- Weight Management: Maintaining a healthy weight is crucial, as it can help prevent or manage conditions like prostate cancer and heart disease.
- Heart Health: Over 40s are at a higher risk of heart disease and high blood pressure, making it important to manage these conditions through lifestyle changes and, if necessary, medication.
- Prostate Health: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, and regular screenings and awareness are important.
- Testosterone: Testosterone levels naturally decline after 40, which can lead to symptoms like fatigue, decreased sex drive, and loss of muscle mass.
- Mental Health: Mental health issues like depression and anxiety are also prevalent, and men may be less likely to seek help for these problems.
